SB1229 by Wentworth (Relating to competitive purchasing procedures for certain counties.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to change the population bracket to which certain sections apply concerning competitive purchasing procedures. The purchasing procedures would apply to counties with a population of 800,000 or more. The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

The sections to be amended currently apply to counties with a population of 2.8 million or more, and one section applies to counties with a population of 2.4 million or more. Counties to which the bill would apply are anticipated to experience various savings by having an additional purchasing method.


Local Government Impact

Counties would experience a savings that would vary, depending on the purchases made.
