TO: | Honorable Carlos Uresti, Chair, House Committee on Human Services |
FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB1237 by Estes (Relating to license fees for certain nursing and convalescent homes. ), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted |
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would exempt veterans homes from trustee fund assessments. The Department of Human Services (DHS) indicated that there are 4 veteran’s homes each with 160 beds. DHS estimated that with the current trustee fund assessment of $12 per bed the reduction in revenue accruing to the trustee fund within the Comptroller of Public Accounts would be $7,680 per year.
The General Land Office/Veteran's Land Board (GLO/VLB) indicated that there would be no fiscal impact to the GLO/VLB should bill become law.
