LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1299 by Madla (Relating to the subpoena authority of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would provide the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists with the authority to use a subpoena to obtain records or a witness necessary to conduct an investigation on a complaint against a licensee. The bill would allow the agency to file suit through the Office of the Attorney General to enforce the subpoena.

Based on the analysis by the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, costs and duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within its current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
