TO: | Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education |
FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB1357 by Nelson (Relating to local school health advisory councils, health education instruction, and coordinated health programs for elementary school students.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would require school districts to make available for reasonable public inspection its policies related to state requirements on physical activity in elementary school, District School Health Advisory Council meetings, compliance with vending machine/food service guidelines, and the use of tobacco products on campuses.
School districts might incur minimal administrative costs associated with the compilation of this information. Local costs associated with the requirement would likely vary somewhat from district to district depending upon the locally-determined strategy to make the information available for public inspection, but are not expected to be significant.
