LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2003

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1366 by Bivins ( Relating to eligibility under the Early High School Graduation Scholarship Program.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend eligibility for the Early High School Graduation Scholarship Program to require students to complete the recommended or advanced high school curriculum in order to be eligible. The committee substitute includes language indicating that a high school graduate will have satisfied early graduation requirements, if their high school could not provide the necessary courses for early graduation.

The Higher Education Coordinating Board has indicated that these changes would not have significant fiscal implications to the state.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
