IN RE:
SB1495 by Madla (Relating to the issuance of special airborne parachutist license plates.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation to issue specially designed Airborne Parachutist license plates for passenger cars and light trucks.  The bill would require applicants to submit proof of eligibility as specified in the bill; an $10 annual fee in addition to other registration fees; that $9.50 be deposited to the credit of the State Highway Fund; and $0.50 to be deposited to the credit of the county treasury in which the applicant resides.  The bill would require that additional sets of license plates would cost $15 in addition to the normal registration costs; that $14.50 be deposited to the credit of the State Highway Fund; and $0.50 to be deposited to the credit of the county treasury in which the applicant resides.  The bill would also require that upon disposing of a vehicle during the registration year, an owner would have to return the plates to TxDOT.

No significant fiscal implication is anticipated due to the estimated number of license plate issuances.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2003.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  The bill would require that $0.50 be deposited to the credit of the county treasury in which the applicant resides for each specially designed Airborne Parachutist license plate purchased.
