April 21, 2003

TO:
Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1669 by Averitt (Relating to military leave for certain public employeees. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. According to the Texas Education Agency, the bill would authorize public school employees to use personal leave during active military service that has already been earned .  As a result, there would be no significant fiscal implications because the obligation to provide compensation for the earned leave would exist with or without this provision.
