LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 5, 2003

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1788 by Zaffirini (Relating to a pilot program to promote and facilitate the operation of diabetes groups.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to a pilot program to promote and facilitate the operation of diabetes groups. The Diabetes Council, in consultation with the Department of Health (TDH), would develop a pilot program to promote and facilitate the operation of diabetes groups to enable persons with diabetes to exchange information and strategies to manage the disease and to obtain relevant information and education. The bill would require TDH to cooperate with the Diabetes Council to provide meeting space, if available, as specified in the bill's provisions.

Based on the analysis by TDH, it is assumed that any cost the agency may incur to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
