FROM: | John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB512 by Cook, Robby (Relating to the punishment for the offense of terroristic threat.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Penal Code by enhancing the punishment for the offense of terroristic threat from a Class B misdemeanor to a Class A misdemeanor if the offense is committed against a member of the actor's family or household or against a public servant.
A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by confinement in county jail for a term not to exceed one year, a fine not to exceed $4,000, or both fine and imprisonment.
It is assumed that the bill would not significantly affect the operations of state or local government.
