IN RE: | HB1368 by McReynolds (Relating to the prosecution and punishment of the offense of making a false report to a peace officer or law enforcement employee.), Committee Report 1st House, As Amended |
The bill would amend the Penal Code by making the offense of false report to a peace officer or a law enforcement employee punishable as a Class A misdemeanor if certain conditions are met. The offense of false report to a peace officer or a law enforcement employee is currently punishable as a Class B misdemeanor.
A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by confinement in county jail for a term not to exceed one year, a fine not to exceed $4,000, or both fine and imprisonment.
No significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies or on the demand for resources and services of those agencies is anticipated from this bill.
