HB 1451 amends Section 615.0225(a), of the Government Code to remove the qualification that the dependent be listed on the income tax return filed with the Internal Revenue Service in the year preceding the year in which the listed individual died in the line of duty. The bill, if enacted, will have no actuarial effect because it does not propose to change the funding or obligations of any public retirement system.
