LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT STATEMENT

78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2003

TO:
Honorable Ron Wilson, Chair, House Committee on Ways & Means

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2458 by Krusee (Relating to the collection of the motor fuel taxes; providing penalties.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

The provision of the bill that is the subject of this analysis would amend the penalties and offenses subchapter of the Tax Code relating to criminal offenses related to motor fuel taxes.  It is assumed that the number of offenders convicted under this statute would not result in a significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies or on the demand for resources and services of those agencies.
