LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT STATEMENT

78TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2003

TO:
Honorable Teel Bivins, Chair, Senate Committee on Finance

FROM:
John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1308 by Bivins (Relating to the collection of motor fuel taxes; providing penalties.), As Introduced

The provision of the bill that is the subject of this analysis would amend the penalties and offenses subchapter of the Tax Code by enhancing the punishments for several criminal offenses related to motor fuel taxes.  It is assumed that the number of offenders convicted under this statute would not result in a significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies or on the demand for resources and services of those agencies.
