         Pursuant to a notice posted and revised on March 3, 2003, the  
         House Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a  
         formal meeting and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Pitts, at 10:07 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Branch; Brown, Fred; Deshotel  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gutierrez; Menendez (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee met to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005. 
          
         (Representative Menendez now present.)(Representative Gutierrez  
         now present.) 
          
         At 11:50 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 4:00 p.m., March 3, 2003. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 4:15 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Pitts. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Branch; Brown, Fred; Deshotel  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gutierrez; Menendez (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee continued to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005. 
          
         (Representative Gutierrez now present.) 
          
         At 6:10 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned.
