         Upon adjournment/recess of the Appropriations Committee public  
         hearing

         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 7, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Pitts, at 1:40 p.m. 
                    
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Brown, Fred; Deshotel;  
                   Gutierrez (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Branch; Menendez (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee met to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005. 
          
         (Representative Branch now present.)(Representative Menendez now  
         present.) 
                                   
         At 5:25 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned.
