         Upon adjournment/recess of the Appropriations Committee public  
         hearing

         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 10, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Pitts, at 11:50 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Brown, Fred; Deshotel;  
                   Gutierrez; Menendez (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Branch (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee met to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005. 
          
         (Representative Branch now present.) 
          
         At 1:45 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until the adjournment of the  
         Appropriations Committee public hearing, March 10, 2003. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 6:07 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Pitts. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Brown, Fred; Gutierrez;  
                   Menendez (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Branch; Deshotel (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee continued to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005. 
          
         (Representative Deshotel now present.)(Representative Branch now  
         present.) 
          
         At 6:55 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned.
