         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 25, 2003, and revised on  
         March 26, 2003, the House Committee on Appropriations-S/C on  
         Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the  
         chair, Representative Pitts, at 9:12 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Pitts; Branch; Brown, Fred; Menendez  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Deshotel; Gutierrez (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The subcommittee met to discuss issues relating to  
         appropriations for 2004-2005.
