Pursuant to a request to meet while the House is in session and
an announcement from the house floor on May 24, 2003, the House
Committee on Border and International Affairs met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative
Chavez, at 4:55 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Chavez; Griggs; Canales; Castro;
Escobar; Riddle (6).
Absent: Representative Merritt (1).
A quorum was present.
The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which SB 963 was
reported to General Calendars. The motion to reconsider
prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Chavez; Griggs; Canales;
Castro; Escobar; Riddle (6).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative Merritt (1).
The committee substitute was before the committee. The committee
substitute was withdrawn without objection. Representative
Chavez offered a second complete committee substitute. The
committee substitute was adopted without objection.
Representative Castro moved that SB 963, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Chavez; Griggs; Canales;
Castro; Escobar; Riddle (6).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative Merritt (1).
At 5:04 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
