Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 14,
2003, the House Committee on Civil Practices met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative
Nixon, at 12:11 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Nixon; Gattis; Capelo; Davis, Yvonne;
Hartnett; King; Rose; Woolley (8).
Absent: Representative Krusee (1).
A quorum was present.
HB 1240
The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the measure was
reported from committee. The motion to reconsider prevailed
without objection.
The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee
substitute was adopted.. The motion to reconsider prevailed
without objection.
The committee substitute was withdrawn without objection.
Representative King offered a complete committee substitute.
The committee substitute was adopted without objection.
Representative King moved that HB 1240, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Nixon; Gattis; Capelo;
Hartnett; King; Rose; Woolley (7).
Nays: Representative Davis, Yvonne (1).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative Krusee (1).
SB 724
The chair laid out SB 724 as pending business.
Representative Gattis moved that SB 724, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:

Davis, Yvonne; Hartnett; King; Rose; Woolley
(8).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).

The chair laid out HB 48 as pending business.
Representative Hartnett moved that HB 48, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the

At 12:17 p.m., on the motion of Representative Woolley and
without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call
of the chair.
