Pursuant to a notice posted on May 9, 2003, the House Committee
on Civil Practices met in a public hearing and was called to
order by the acting chair, Representative Gattis at 8:10 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:

Absent: Representatives Nixon; Capelo; Davis, Yvonne; Rose
(4).
A quorum was present.
SB 1601
The chair laid out SB 1601.
The chair recognized Representative Hartnett to explain the
measure.
Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
The chair recognized Representative Hartnett to close on the
measure.
Representative Krusee moved that SB 1601, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:

Krusee; Woolley (5).
Nays: None (0).
