         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 20, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called  
         to order by the chair, Representative Allen, at 8:42 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Allen; Hopson; Alonzo; Mabry (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Stick; Farrar; Haggerty (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 8:46 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the committee stood at ease until  
         8:55 a.m., February 25, 2003. 
          
         The committee heard invited testimony from the American  
         Correctional Association. (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 9:50 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 30 minutes following adjournment  
         of the house, February 25, 2003. 
                                   
         The roll was answered as follows:

         The committee heard invited testimony from the Texas Department  
         of Criminal Justice - Parole Division and Correctional Managed  
         Health Care. (See attached witness list.)

         The Committee heard invited testimony from the Private Sector  
         Prison Industries Oversight Authority, and the Texas Council on  
         Sex Offender Treatment.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The Committee heard public testimony.  (See attached witness  
         list.) 
  
         At 4:02 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
