         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor and a  
         suspension of all necessary rules to allow the committee to meet  
         while the house is in session on May 23, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence met in a formal meeting and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Keel, at 2:03  
         p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Keel; Ellis; Denny; Hodge; Pena;  
                   Talton (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Riddle; Dunnam; Moreno, Paul (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out SB 1948. 
          
         The chair explained the measure.  
          
         The chair closed on the measure.  
          
         Representative Keel moved that SB 1948, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:

                             Pena; Talton (6).  
           
         Nays:               None (0).
