The House Committee on Economic Development 78th Legislature December 9, 2003 9:00 a.m. Capitol Extension, E2.014 Pursuant to a notice posted on November 24, 2003, the House Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Keffer, Jim, at 9:10 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Keffer, Jim; Homer; Rodriguez; Wong (4). Absent: Representatives Isett; Hughes; Thompson (3). A quorum was present. Testimony was taken on interim charge topic 2: Review the state's role in tourism and the effects of moving tourism functions within the Governor's office under SB 275, 78th Legislature. Examine how the state can assist rural communities in the promotion of tourism. (See attached witness list.) (Representative Hughes now present.) Testimony was taken on interim charge topic 7: Monitor the agencies and programs under the committee's jurisdiction, with special attention paid to the agencies' implementation of sunset legislation. (See attached witness list.) Testimony was taken on interim charge topic 3: Actively monitor the status of the Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund. Review the impact of legislative changes enacted by SB 280, 78th Legislature, on funding of the Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund. (See attached witness list.)
