The House Committee on General Investigating 78th Legislature May 1, 2003 8:00 a.m. or upon final adjourn./recess Capitol Extension, E2.030 Pursuant to a notice posted on April 25, 2003, the House Committee on General Investigating met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Bailey, at 8:16 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Bailey; Paxton; Flynn (3). Absent: Representatives Dutton; Keel (2). A quorum was present. Chairman Bailey explained to the committee that our General Council Kyle Carter had attend the video teleconference between Judge Debbie Strickland and inmates concerning the re-test of DNA due to the Houston Police Department Crime Lab problems. Mr. Carter has submitted a report to the committee on the proceedings of the teleconference. Chairman Bailey also explained the list of items concerning Special Districts for the committee to look over, make corrections, or add other topics of concern for our committee report. Chairman Bailey then called on Jason Cooke from TX. Health and Human Services Commission to answer questions from members concerning the CHIP program and contractors of the programs. Chairman Bailey called on Michael Masters to explain the services his companies provide to the CHIPS program. Chairman recognized both Raquel Olivo and Mercedes Perez de Colon from Avance to explain the services they provide in the border region. At 10:03 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair. ________________________ Rep.
