         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 5, 2003, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a formal meeting and was called to  
         order by the chair, Representative Smithee, at 2:08 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

                   Keffer, Bill; Taylor; Van Arsdale (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gallego; Thompson (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         (Representative Gallego now present.) 
          
         Background information relating to the current state of the  
         insurance industry was received by the committee. 
          
         At 3:16 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
