         Pursuant to a notice posted on July 27, 2004, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called to  
         order by the chair, Representative Smithee, at 10:12 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Smithee; Seaman; Eiland; Gallego;  
                   Taylor; Thompson; Van Arsdale (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Bonnen; Keffer, Bill (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee heard invited testimony from Jose Montemayor,  
         Commissioner for the Texas Department of Insurance. 
          
         (Representative Keffer, Bill now present.) 
          
         (Representative Bonnen now present.)               
          
         The committee heard testimony from Rod Bordelon, Public Counsel  
         for the Office of Public Insurance Counsel. 
          
         At 12:42 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
