Pursuant to a notice posted on May 14, 2003, the House Committee
on Public Education met in a formal meeting and was called to
order by the chair, Representative Grusendorf, at 2:05 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Grusendorf; Branch; Eissler; Griggs;
Madden (5).
Absent: Representatives Oliveira; Dawson; Dutton; Hochberg
(4).
A quorum was present.
SB 976
The chair laid out SB 976 as pending business.
Representative Grusendorf offered a complete committee
substitute.
The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

Representative Branch moved that SB 976, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Grusendorf; Branch; Dawson;
Eissler; Griggs; Madden (6).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Oliveira; Dutton; Hochberg (3).
SB 1394
The chair laid out SB 1394 as pending business.
The chair recognized Representative Griggs to explain the
measure.
Representative Griggs moved that SB 1394, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Grusendorf; Branch; Dawson;
Eissler; Griggs; Madden (6).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).

The chair laid out SB 900 as pending business.
The chair recognized Representative Eissler to explain the
measure.
Representative Eissler moved that SB 900, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:

Nays: Representative Griggs (1).

At 2:17 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
