         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 23,  
         2003, the House Committee on State Cultural and Recreational  
         Resources met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the  
         chair, Representative Hilderbran, at 11:34 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hilderbran; Geren; Dukes; Phillips  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Bailey; Cook, Byron; Kuempel (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SCR 55 
         The chair laid out SCR 55. 
          
         Representative Dukes moved that SCR 55, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Hilderbran; Geren; Dukes;  
                             Phillips (4).  
           
         Nays:               None (0).  
           
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).  
           
         Absent:        Representatives Bailey; Cook, Byron; Kuempel   
                        (3).  
           
         A quorum was lost; therefore, no action was taken on SB 470 or  
         SCR 41. 
          
         At 11:36 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
