MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATION Monday, February 3, 2003 4:00 p.m. E1.714 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, February 3, 2003, in the E1.714 ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Chris Harris Senator Juan Hinojosa Senator Mike Jackson Senator Kyle Janek Senator Leticia Van de Putte Senator Jeff Wentworth Senator John Whitmire ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: At 4:04 p.m. Senator Jackson assumed the chair. Senator Harris laid out the Senate Committee budgets and explained to the members that all committees would have a 7 percent reduction over the budgets from last session, unless the chair of the committee submitted a budget request with additional reductions. The only exception would be Nominations, which was held harmless due to the size of its budget. Senator Harris read off each committee's proposed budget amount and any exception letters that were submitted. Senator Van de Putte seconded the motion. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. Senator Harris resumed the chair. Senator Harris moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on January 22, 2003; without objection, it was so ordered.
