Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Administration was held on Monday, February 3, 2003, in the
E1.714

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
At 4:04 p.m. Senator Jackson assumed the chair. Senator Harris
laid out the Senate Committee budgets and explained to the
members that all committees would have a 7 percent reduction
over the budgets from last session, unless the chair of the
committee submitted a budget request with additional reductions.
The only exception would be Nominations, which was held harmless
due to the size of its budget.
Senator Harris read off each committee's proposed budget amount
and any exception letters that were submitted. Proposed budget
amounts were:

Senator Harris moved adoption of the proposed Senate Committee
Budgets and their exemptions. Senator Van de Putte seconded the
motion. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay,
0 present not voting, and 1 absent.
Senator Harris resumed the chair.
Senator Harris moved adoption of the minutes from the previous
hearing held on January 22, 2003; without objection, it was so
ordered.
There being no further business, at 4:15 p.m. Senator Harris
moved that the Committee stand adjourned subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
