Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Administration was held on Monday, September 22, 2003, in E1.714

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:12 a.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out HCR 6 and recognized Senator Van de Putte, in
the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill. Senator
Janek moved that HCR 6 be reported favorably to the Senate with
the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not
voting, and 2 absent.
The chair announced that Senator Wentworth had an amendment to
S.R. 30. The chair asked that the amendment be distributed to
all members of the Senate for discussion. The chair then
announced that the Committee would stand in recess until 1 hour
call of the chair so that members of the Senate could discuss
Senator Wentworth's amendment; there being no objection the
committee recessed at 9:15 a.m.
The Committee reconvened at 4:05 p.m. The chair announced that
Senator Wentworth had a new amendment, instead of the previous
amendment, to offer up to the Committee for consideration.
There was discussion.
At 4:16 p.m. Senator Jackson assumed the chair.
The chair laid out SR 30 and recognized the author, Senator
Harris, to explain the bill. Senator Wentworth sent up
Committee Amendment 1 and moved adoption. The motion carried
with a record vote of 4 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not voting, and
0 absent. Senator Van de Putte asked to be shown voting "nay";
without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Harris moved that
SR 30, as amended, be reported back to the Senate with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not
voting, and 0 absent. Senator Van de Putte asked to be shown
voting "nay"; without objection, it was so ordered.
At 4:25 p.m. Senator Harris resumed the chair.
There being no further business, at 4:25 p.m. Senator Harris
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
