Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Standing Senate Subcommittee on
Higher Education was held on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in the
Capitol Extension, E1.030, in Austin, Texas.

A joint hearing of the Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education
Committee and the Senate Finance Committee was held. Chairs
West and Ogden shared presiding duties.
Senator Ogden called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m for the
Senate Finance Committee. Senator West called the meeting to
order at 8:02 a.m. for the Senate Subcommittee on Higher
Education.
The following business was transacted:
The clerk called a roll call for the Senate Subcommittee on
Higher Education. A quorum was present for the Senate
Subcommittee on Higher Education.
Senator Janek moved adoption of the minutes from the previous
Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education hearing held on May 6,
2004; without objection, it was so ordered.
Witnesses testifying and registering on funding for higher
education are shown on the attached list.
The clerk called a roll call for the Senate Finance Committee.
A quorum was present for the Senate Finance Committee.
Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the minutes from the
previous Senate Finance Committee hearings held on May 24 and
25, 2004; without objection, it was so ordered.
Invited testimony resumed.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without
objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 12:55 p.m. Senator Ogden
moved that the Senate Finance Committee stand recessed subject
to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 12:55 p.m. Senator West
moved that the Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education Committee
stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without
objection, it was so ordered.
