         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was  
         held on Monday, April 26, 2004, in the Capitol Extension, Room  
         E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         Senator Ogden introduced the Finance Committee's new member,  
         Senator Bob Deuell. 
          
         The Committee heard invited and public testimony relating to  
         revenue options for public school finance, including property  
         tax.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the topics are  
         shown on the attached list. 
          
         At 1:54 p.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         At 1:59 p.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.   
         The Committee heard invited and public testimony relating to  
         revenue options for public school finance, including reformed  
         franchise tax.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the  
         topics are shown on the attached list. 
          
         At 3:39 p.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.   
          
         At 3:58 p.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair.           
          
         There being no further business, at 5:15 p.m. Senator Ogden  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed until 9 a.m. the next  
         morning, April 27, 2004.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
