Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of
the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Friday, May
16, 2003, in the Senator Duncan's Desk at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out pending business HB 729. Senator Harris
moved that HB 729 be reported favorably to the Senate with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not
voting, and 2 absent.
Senator Lucio assumed the chair.
The chair laid out pending business HB 803. A committee
substitute was adopted at a previous hearing. Senator Duncan
moved that HB 803 do not pass but that CSHB 803 be reported back
to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be
printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0
nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent. Senator Duncan moved
that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local &
Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

that HB 913 be reported favorably to the Senate with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion

recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar;
without objection, it was so ordered.

Averitt moved adoption of the committee substitute; without
