MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON JURISPRUDENCE Wednesday, July 16, 2003 12:30 p.m. Capitol Extension Auditorium ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in the Capitol Extension Auditorium at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Robert Duncan None Senator Mario Gallegos Senator Kip Averitt Senator Chris Harris Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. Senator Todd Staples Senator Royce West ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: At 1:05 p.m. Senator Duncan announced the committee would stand recessed until 1:45 p.m. At 2:00 p.m. the committee reconvened. The chairman offered an opening statement. Senators Lucio, West, and Gallegos offered opening statements. At 2:30 p.m. Senator Duncan announced the committee would stand recessed until 3:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m. the committee reconvened. At 3:01 p.m. Senator Duncan announced the committee would stand recessed until 4:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. the committee reconvened. At 4:31 p.m. Senator Duncan announced the committee would stand recessed until 6:30 p.m. At 6:37 p.m. the committee reconvened. Senator Staples announced that he would work to have a map available Thursday, July 17 at 9:00 a.m. Public testimony on HB 3 resumed. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.
