Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government
Organization was held on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, in the
Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m. The
following business was transacted:
The committee heard invited and public testimony on interim
charge three, reviewing the use of inventory management in
transportation and other programs and exploring the cost
efficiencies and economic benefits of co-locating agencies in
small, mid-size and large cities around the State. Witnesses
registering and testifying on the topics are shown on the
attached list.
The committee heard invited testimony on interim charge four,
studying the effectiveness and making recommendations on
improving debt collection strategies across all state programs
and identifying uncollectible state receivables. Witnesses
registering and testifying on the topics are shown on the
attached list.
There being no further business, at 2:57 Senator Ellis moved
that the committee stand recessed subject to the call of the
chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
