MINUTES Tuesday, July 22, 2003 2:00 p.m. or upon adjournment Senate Chamber Senator Ogden's Desk ***** Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Infrastructure Development and Security Committee was held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in the Senate Chamber at Senator Ogden's desk at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Steve Ogden Senator Bob Deuell Senator Gonzalo Barrientos Senator Rodney Ellis Senator Jon Lindsay Senator Frank Madla Senator Florence Shapiro Senator Eliot Shapleigh Senator Jeff Wentworth ***** The chair called the meeting to order at 2:12 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: At 2:13 p.m. Senator Wentworth assumed the chair. The chair laid out HCR 12, memorializing the secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security to designate a university-based center for homeland security in the State of Texas and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Ogden, to explain the bill. Senator Ogden moved that HCR 12 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent. At 1:15 p.m. Senator Ogden resumed the chair. There being no further business, at 1:15 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.
