         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Subcommittee on Base Realignment  
         and Closure was held on Monday, August 23, 2004, at the Kemp  
         Center for the Arts in Wichita Falls.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The Senate Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure heard  
         invited and public testimony regarding the upcoming Department  
         of Defense's Base Realignment and Closure round, the  
         preparations being undertaken by the Wichita Falls community and  
         the needs and challenges faced in this preparation process.  See  
         attached witness list for testimony taken.   
          
         At 2:15 p.m., on motion of the Chair of the Subcommittee, the  
         hearing was adjourned.
