         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Joint Select Committee on Public  
         School Finance was held on Friday, December 5, 2003, in the  
         House Appropriations Committee Room, E1.030

         The chair called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The chair made opening remarks and welcomed the members of the  
         Committee.   
          
         Witnesses testifying and registering on a payroll tax are shown  
         on the attached list. 
          
         At 11:21 a.m. Senator Shapiro assumed the chair.   
          
         At 11:29 a.m. Representative Grusendorf resumed the chair.   
          
         Witnesses testifying and registering on a cigarette tax are  
         shown on the attached list.   
          
         Witnesses testifying and registering on a business activity tax  
  
         are shown on the attached list.   
          
         The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         There being no further business, at 12:10 p.m. Representative  
         Grusendorf moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to  
         the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
