         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Joint Select Committee on Public  
         School Finance was held on Thursday, March 4, 2004, in the House  
         Appropriations Committee Room, E1.030, at Austin, Texas.

         Representative Grusendorf called the meeting to order at 10:13  
         a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was  
         transacted:   
          
         Witnesses testifying and registering on the cost function  
         approach and cost of education index are shown on the attached  
         list.   
          
         At 12:40 p.m. Senator Shapiro assumed the chair.  At 12:51 p.m.  
         Representative Grusendorf resumed the chair.   
          
         The chair moved that invited testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         There being no further business, at 1:09 p.m. Representative  
         Grusendorf moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to  
         the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
