	Amend the Castro amendment to HB 2 (amendment packet, page 

119) by striking the text of the amendment and substituting the 

following:

	Amend HB 2 by adding the following appropriately numbered 

section to Part B, Article 2, of the bill, and renumbering the 

subsequent sections of Part B, Article 2, accordingly:

	SECTION 2B.__.  Subchapter B, Chapter 7, Education Code, is 

amended by adding Section 7.031 to read as follows:

	Sec. 7.031.  POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION SURVEY.  (a)  The agency 

shall develop a postsecondary education survey that a public high 

school may use to monitor the postsecondary education plans of 

seniors at the high school.

	(b)  Not later than January 1, 2006, the agency shall post the 

survey developed under Subsection (a) on the agency's website.  As 

soon as practicable after posting the survey on the website, the 

agency shall notify each school district that is located in a 

municipality with a population of at least one million of the 

availability of the survey.

	(c)  A counselor at a high school may administer the survey to 

seniors.  The survey must include questions to obtain the following 

information:

		(1)  whether the student is planning to apply or has 

applied for admission to a postsecondary educational institution;

		(2)  the name of any postsecondary educational 

institution to which the student is planning to apply or has applied 

for admission, if applicable;

		(3)  the name of any postsecondary educational 

institution to which the student has been accepted for admission, 

if applicable; and

		(4)  the name of the postsecondary educational 

institution to which the student has been accepted for admission 

and is planning to attend, if applicable.

	(d)  This section expires August 1, 2008.
