A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to public use of computers in certain local public 
libraries.      
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Chapter 315, Local Government Code, is amended 
by adding Section 315.007 to read as follows:
	Sec. 315.007.  COMPUTER ACCESS IN CERTAIN PUBLIC LIBRARIES.  
A municipal public library in a municipality with a population of 
more than 50,000:
		(1)  shall provide computers with high-speed Internet 
access for use by the public; and
		(2)  may charge a reasonable fee for use of the 
computers.           
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect November 1, 2005.
