H.C.R. No. 16
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
temper the profound sadness that the passing of Grady W. Elmore of
Paris on June 22, 2005, at the age of 77, brings to all who knew this
distinguished gentleman; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 16, 1928, in Crowder Springs, Oklahoma,
Mr. Elmore grew up in Boswell, Oklahoma, and married the former
Joan Dancer, in DeQueen, Arkansas, in 1951; he served with
distinction in the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army; and
WHEREAS, Since moving to Paris in 1969, Mr. Elmore played an
active role in his community as a member of East Paris Baptist
Church, the Elks Lodge, and the Masonic Lodge, where he became a
32nd Degree Mason; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Elmore enjoyed going to the local coffee shop
and reading western magazines, attending rodeos, and visiting with
his family and friends, and he will be fondly remembered for his
sense of humor and kindness; and
WHEREAS, Although Grady Elmore will be deeply missed, his
spirit will live on in the hearts of those individuals who were
fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas,
1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Grady W.
Elmore and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
his wife, Joan Elmore; to his daughters, Angie Selby and her
husband, Raymond, Connie Miller and her husband, Anthony, and
Brigitte Viehe and her husband, Mike; to his brothers, Pete and Paul
Elmore; to his sister, Mickie Braudrick; to his grandchildren,
Bryan, Terra, Tasha, Brandon, Brittany, and Blair; to his
great-grandchildren, Alex, Kenyatta, and Riley; and to his other
relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
Grady W. Elmore.
