H.C.R. No. 20
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Joe Paul Cobb were
deeply saddened by his passing on June 24, 2005, at the age of 64,
and we join them in mourning their loss; and
WHEREAS, A native of Brownfield, Mr. Cobb attended Lubbock
High School and Texas Tech University before moving to Clovis, New
Mexico; and
WHEREAS, In 1975, he relocated his family to Paris, Texas, to
dedicate himself to the running of the Cobb Ranch, and he also lent
his expertise to his work as a director of the All-Breed Bull Sale;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cobb gave generously of his time and talent for
the benefit of the larger community as well, serving as a director
of the chamber of commerce and as a member of the Paris Rotary Club
and the Board of Governors of McCuistion Regional Medical Center;
and
WHEREAS, A well-rounded individual, he further enjoyed
sculpting and wood turning, and was the owner of the Circle W Health
Food Store; and
WHEREAS, Although Mr. Cobb will long be missed, his unique
and irreplaceable spirit will continue to shine brightly in the
memories of all those fortunate enough to have known him; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas,
1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Paul Cobb
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
wife, DeEtte; to his daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bill
Coleman; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Paul Cobb, Jr., and
Tricia Cobb, Robert and Margaret Cobb, and Richard and Deanna Cobb;
to his grandchildren, Chase, Nathan, Hudson, Mallie, Sam, Gibson,
Mattie, Nelson, Rachel, Mary, and Ben; to his brother and
sister-in-law, Tom "Bud" Cobb and Judy Cobb; to his sister and
brother-in-law, Aurelia and Bert Nelson; and to his other family
members and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory
of Joe Paul Cobb.
