H.C.R. No. 30
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, After 30 years of service to the City of Irving,
Steve McCullough is retiring from his position as city manager on
September 30, 2005; and
WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan first began his career with
the city in June 1975 as an administrative assistant in the finance
department; three years later, he joined the city manager's office
and was promoted to the position of deputy city manager in 1986; and
WHEREAS, In his role as city manager for the past 12 years,
Mr. McCullough has initiated transportation improvement projects
throughout the city and assisted in the development of a new
comprehensive transportation plan, a light rail line from Las
Colinas to DFW International Airport, and a water reuse contract
with the Trinity River Authority; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McCullough also oversaw the construction of the
Lake Chapman Water Supply Project and other new facilities and
parks, including the Family Advocacy Center, a police substation,
the Heritage Senior Center, Campion Trails, and the Valley View
Municipal Complex; and
WHEREAS, His dedication to the needs of his community has
been recognized by the Dallas Morning News and by the governor of
Texas, who appointed him to the Texas Municipal Retirement System
Board of Trustees, which he has served as chair; and
WHEREAS, Steve McCullough has helped lead Irving into a new
century, and his efforts to promote the well-being of area
residents and his vision for a prosperous and productive future
will continue to benefit countless Texans for years to come; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas,
1st Called Session, hereby commend Steve McCullough for his
exemplary service to the City of Irving and extend to him sincere
best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. McCullough as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
