CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Kristopher Dale Byers on July
14, 2005, at the age of 20, has deeply saddened the many friends and
relatives of this remarkable young man; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Paris, Mr. Byers graduated in
2004 from Chisum High School, where he was a valued member of the
Mustangs baseball and football teams; during his senior year, this
talented athlete caught a memorable touchdown pass and was named
second team All District; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Byers also excelled in academics and was known
to be a model student and school leader; he attended the First
Baptist Church of Paris and had just begun a promising career with
Coca-Cola Bottling at the time of his death; and
WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say good-bye to one so
young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that while his
time on this earth was far too brief, Kris Byers profoundly affected
the lives of those around him, and his memory will long endure in
the hearts of the countless individuals whose lives he touched;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas,
1st Called Session, hereby honor the life of Kristopher Dale Byers
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
parents, Ronald and Allison Byers; to his sisters, Courtney and
Stephanie "Happy" Byers; to his grandparents, Phyllis Byers, Ron
Byers, and James and Jesslyn Wright; and to his other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
Kristopher Dale Byers.
