R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fire Chief Jim Devine was honored on the occasion of
his retirement from the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department
(HLVFD) with a reception held on May 26, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Chief Devine joined HLVFD 10 years ago and became
fire chief three years later; under his leadership, the department
has received a number of government grants, and his focus on
organization and training will continue to benefit area residents
for years to come; and
WHEREAS, An exceptionally qualified firefighter, Chief
Devine is a certified advanced firefighter, certified fire marshal,
ECA/First Responder, Level II Fire Instructor, and Wood County
Emergency Management Coordinator; he has twice been named
Firefighter of the Year, and the Holly Lake Area Chamber of Commerce
selected him Person of the Year in 2003; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Jim Devine has enjoyed the
love and support of his wife, Maria, and son, Christopher; and
WHEREAS, Chief Devine has served the Holly Lake community
with integrity and dedication, and he has earned the lasting
respect of all who have worked with him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jim Devine on
his retirement as fire chief of the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire
Department and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Chief Devine as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
