R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Thomas R. Wolfe of Raymondville received a well-deserved honor when he was named the Valley Morning Star All-Valley Male Athlete of the Year for 2005; and WHEREAS, A 2005 graduate of Raymondville High School, Mr. Wolfe excelled in athletics while in school, including track and field competition; to that end, he claimed first place in the 2005 regional pole vault championships and finished second in the long jump and took second place in the pole vault and third in the long jump at the state tournament; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wolfe has also performed well on the gridiron, earning first-team, all-district recognition at quarterback for the past three years; moreover, he was named to the Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association (RGVCA) All-Star team in 2005; and WHEREAS, His superb play on the hardwood has garnered him numerous honors as well, such as the District 32-AAA Newcomer of the Year Award in 2003, selection to the all-district first team in 2004, and recognition as the 32-AAA Offensive Player of the Year in 2005; and WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding athletic accomplishments, Mr. Wolfe also distinguished himself in the classroom; a member of the National Honor Society, he ranked 10th in his class and was awarded the Valley Telephone Scholarship, the Young Farmer's Scholarship, and a UTSA Track and Field Scholarship; and WHEREAS, The son of Tom and Pat Wolfe, Tommy Wolfe is a source of tremendous pride to his family, his school, and his community, and he will no doubt continue to excel as he embarks on an exciting new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Thomas R. Wolfe on being named the Valley Morning StarAll-Valley Male Athlete of the Year for 2005 and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Wolfe as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
