R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Lois Evans has long endeavored to meet the diverse needs of her fellow citizens through her active involvement in an array of worthy religious and civic organizations; and WHEREAS, Currently serving as senior vice president of The Urban Alternative, Dr. Evans has held numerous executive management positions with that organization and remains committed to its mandate of promoting spiritual growth and renewal in America's urban areas; she also sits on The Urban Alternative Board of Directors and enjoyed previous employment with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the Grand Old Gospel Fellowship Ministry, and Dallas Federal Savings and Loan; and WHEREAS, Dr. Evans holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University and received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Eastern College in 1996; she is a member of the Worship Council Board and the Ladies Fellowship Advisory Board at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas, where her husband serves as senior pastor; and WHEREAS, Active with the boards of the National Religious Broadcasters, the Dallas Baptist University Women's Auxiliary, and the Dallas Mavericks as well, this remarkable woman is currently serving as the first president of the Global Pastors Wives Network; she is also a member of Leadership Southwest and has served on the board of the Christian Management Association; and WHEREAS, Dr. Evans is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her outstanding civic and religious contributions, including the 1995 Good Samaritan Award from Dallas Baptist University, the 2000 Status of Women Award from Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and the Woman of the Year in Ministry award from the Women of Influence; and WHEREAS, A regular contributor to many notable magazines and newsletters and a published recording artist and author, Dr. Evans is first and foremost a devoted partner to her husband, Dr. Tony Evans, and a loving mother and grandmother; her enthusiasm, energy, and steadfast faith are an inspiration to all who know her, and it is a privilege to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Lois Evans for her contributions to the success of The Urban Alternative and honor her for her many years of dedicated service to her community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Evans as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
