R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The retirement of Captain Don Miller from the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department concludes an exceptional record of dedication to the safety and welfare of his fellow Texans; and WHEREAS, As head of Support 843, Captain Miller's responsibilities included providing communication support, firefighter support, and traffic control on the scene; he was a member of the investigation committee that screens new department members and held the office of treasurer on the department's board of directors; and WHEREAS, This admired gentleman often served as "Captain of the Kitchen" at department functions, and his wit and good humor have brought many a smile to his circle of friends and neighbors; and WHEREAS, Captain Miller enjoys the love and support of his wife, Shirley, their son, Mike Miller, and their daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Norm Rauner, Barbara and Dale Ball, and Sherry and Ed Vitovsky; in addition, he has embraced the joys of grandparenting with the arrival of 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Don Miller's 10-year record of meritorious service with the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department reflects the loyalty, personal bravery, and self-sacrifice that define the highest ideals of the firefighting profession, and it is most appropriate that he be thanked for his outstanding contribution to his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Captain Don Miller for his exemplary tenure with the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department and extend to him heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Captain Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
